Ice Dragon Egg by KatherineReedKS Ice Dragon Egg by KatherineReedKS
This egg to a bit longer to make than the pink one I posted last and was more difficult to work with because it is built on top of a real egg shell. While working on this I had to be very gentle because of how fragile an egg shell is. The egg is very light weight but I'd like to work on using even less clay in order to make it even lighter. There is a small hole in the bottom to allow the air to escape the egg so that it wont expand and break because it is hollow during baking.

The tedious work that goes into these eggs actually almost makes me miss the simplicity of spikes! One of these eggs can take as long as a dragon sculpture to make. [link]?

A very intricate piece, and I love the details.
Clearly a difficult work, and for that I applaud you.

Yeah, this little guy took me longer to make than my dragons XD (except maybe the black and red one)

Unique! The forms of the painted spots for the egg do give it an icy feel behind it. Nicely done!

I think the little white specks are maybe a bit too close or too small. Making them bigger and more varied would look cooler (would make it sort of look like marble).

I would also advice you don't take pictures of the eggs with a bright background like this one. Try it on a duller white/gray or dark red so the egg pops out at you.

I agree, I wish they were either a little bigger or a little more spread apart. I also like your advise on the background... I almost pulled it into photoshop just to dim the background a bit :)

Awww, so pretty :) Congratulations with the good result, certainly because you've put so much time and effort in it!
It really has the icy look for me, and I just love those sparkles... It makes the egg look alive :) Well done!

Thank you! I did put a good chunk of time into this egg so I'm really glad you like it :) I'm glad you like the sparkles in it because I had to give it a clear gloss on top to get them to show up and I was so afraid it would look worse with a gloss before I did it :)
